Kandaka Collections is derived from the Nubian word Kandaka which means queen of the Old Nubian civilization. Currently, the word Kandaka is used to describe revolutionary women who stand for justice and change in Sudan. The logo of Kandaka Collections was inspired by the jewelry of the Amanishakheto, one of the most prominent Kandakas of Kush. Kandaka Amanishakheto was extremely wealthy and powerful. She built considerable pyramids and temples at Wad Ban Neqa which is in modern day Sudan. Aside from being a fierce Kandaka, Amanishakheto was a fearless warrior and the daughter of the one-eyed warrior Kandaka Amanirenas. Kandaka Amenirenas led a war against the Roman army sent by Emperor Cesar Augustus to conquer Nubia. After a fierce battle with the Romans, Kandaka Amanirenas and her army won the war. After their humiliating defeat, the Romans initiated a series of counterattacks to conquer Nubia and were once again defeated by Kandaka Amanirenas. Through her bravery and leadership, Kandaka Amenirenas defeated all the enemies who tried to conquer Nubia thus protecting her kingdom and her people. Like Kandaka Amanishakheto and Kandakas that lived throughout history and Kandakas who are currently living, we aspired to become someone who stand for change and justice.
